Welcome to the fifth chapter of the Chasing Magic Series!
Our year long journey offering a free sock knitting pattern and accompanying chapter to the Chasing Magic story every month!*
Summer has sewn its seeds upon the world, and that means, that the fields are about to raise up with all kinds of grains reaching for the sky.
It means meadows turn from colourfully speckled, soft seas, to thick, course carpets of high, green and brown grasses, and there’s lush reeds on the shore of lakes and rivers all around.
The Seeds Of Summer Socks are designed with these exact kinds of plants in mind. The cuff representing the head of a grain plant, while the slip stitch texture forms the stem.

What summer’s soon arrival also means though, is that (at least for the part of the planet that I’m in), it’s about to get hot, so let’s try and enjoy knitting some socks while the nights are still cool enough to wear them! ^^
Chasing Magic Chapter Five
Chapter six scheduled for August 1st 2026
The Sock Pattern
Click here to find the free PDF pattern for the Seeds Of Summer Socks on ravelry.
If ravelry isn’t accessible for you but you’d like to knit these socks, I’m more than happy to send it to you directly.
You can contact me at: wildflower-fibercrafts@protonmail.com
The Seeds Of Summer Socks are worked cuff-down.
They feature a double dip stitch cuff, as well as a simple slip stitch texture around the leg and foot.
The heel is a modified version of the classic heel-flap and gusset construction, that makes the slip stitches on the heel-flap flow seamlessly out of the ones of the slip stitch texture.
The toe is a classic wedged toe, sewn closed at the end using Kitchener stitch.

Please remember that as always, I’ve put a lot of love and effort into creating this pattern, so please don’t steal this pattern to claim and/or sell it as your own.
Thank you, for treating others creative work with respect! <3
Some Important Information (again)
The next month (July), will be a break-month for the Chasing Magic Series!
This means the next chapter and sock pattern will come out on August 1st 2026.
We’re almost half way into the year, and thereby also into the Chasing Magic Series now.
Well, we’re actually already a bit past the half way point of the total amount of chapters/patterns there will be!
I can’t put into words how amazing it feels, to see others out there – to see you lovely people! – knit things that I designed!
Everything we knit takes effort, energy, time, material,… and for you to choose to spend all of this on my creations is such an honour!
So for those of you that chose to follow along a part, or all of the series so far…

Just… whoa! Thank you for coming along! Thank you for giving the things I put out meaning!
When I started uploading posts and patterns, I made a rule for myself to not give meaning to numbers. After all, a passion-project should be driven by internal drive, not by external validation.
BUT… there just is a special kind of magic to getting to see comments and project pages on ravelry and reading that people actually got enjoyment out of the fact, that I played with yarn and squished it into a PDF-file. That some of you are making, wearing, and/or gifting Chasing Magic Socks, makes me so happy to see!
And oh Gods I can’t put into words the excitement I felt, when some comments about enjoying my writing came in as well!
Thank you SO SO much for letting me know you’re liking what you’re getting!

Talking of seeing your comments etc.;
Our ravelry group is up and running!
I’ll be honest, I still have no idea what I’m doing over there, but there’s quite a few nice people in the group already, so it can’t be all that terrible, right? ^^’
Sooo… why don’t you come join us?
I am a link to the Chasing Magic ravelry group!
July is going to be another break-month within the series, so if you’ve been wanting to catch up on some of the patterns/chapters so far, now’s a great time to do so! And to share and chat about it in our group! ;D
The latest two sock patterns (Berry Basket & Seeds Of Summer) have been quite simple – just a bit of texture and some special details to spice things up. This is not going to be the case for the upcoming patterns though! (But don’t worry, the difficulty level won’t rise above the point we’ve already reached so far.)
I won’t make clear announcements as to what exactly the techniques and design elements are going to be, since I’m still working on them and can’t be fully certain that the designs are actually going to work the way I want them to. But IF everything goes to plan (and it’s looking quite promising), we’ll take a dive into some techniques that haven’t come up in the series yet!
So, I hope you’ll come along to see how things continue – not just the socks, but also with the story! ^^
(By the way, how did “Hey, wouldn’t it be cute if the socks came with a little story?” turn into nearly 100 pages before even the second half of the year?! – I’m having so much fun with this part of the series as well! * – *)
In The Meantime…
While I take a (much needed! Oh Gods has writer’s block been brutal this month! o-o) break of publishing within this series, I hope you can enjoy what’s already been published!
In the Mossy Path Socks -post, I mentioned that I’m working on a secret project. This has since been unvailed as being my very own, crafty, cozy magazine!
Do I even have to mention that it’s free to download?
I mean… I made it. Of course it is!

Every time the Chasing Magic series takes a month off this year, I’ll be ‘publishing’ a new issue of the Cozy Corner Magazine instead!
Follow this link to learn more about it.
Please note that I can’t make any guarantees as to if a scheduled release will actually be coming – my brain just doesn’t brain reliably, and as much as I try, sometimes, there’s just nothing I can do about that. I’m doing my best though!
If you want to get informed of any new uploads on here, … well… unfortunately I have no system for that yet… my IT-Bird and I are working on it though! ^^
So, just like last time, a break in the Chasing Magic Series doesn’t mean silence on here!
(Which, especially considering I’ve been struggling with writer’s block and a little relapse back deeper into autistic burnout lately, might be an even worse idea than it was last time, but hey, who am I to pretend I can just shush up on command? ^^’)
I hope you’ll pay the Cozy Corner Magazine a visit as well, and that I’ll get to greet you back here once again on August 1st 2026, for the next entry of the Chasing Magic Series!
Thank you so much for joining me for this magical journey!
May your days be filled with the golden glow of summer
Have a wonderful month!
Snowdrop
*except for a few break-months in between, there will be a new sock pattern in my ravelry store, with its related chapter to the Chasing Magic story on this site, on the first day of every month.
