The days have gotten shorter again and the night sky presents itself earlier each night.
And how could anyone see the stars and not have their mind wander off into its own infinity?
How could I know of the boundless night sky and not let it inspire me?
And while the night sky shows itself the most in the cold and frosty months, when the sun takes its nightly rest early and long, these thick and cozy colorwork socks will show up in comfort and the extra warm nature of stranded colorwork.
Before you get intimidated by colorwork and the overall look of these socks;
The Prince of the Night colorwork pattern is extremely simple, repetitive, super easy to memorise! It’s super easy to see where in the pattern you are when you pick your project back up and the longest float in the entire socks is over five stitches and only happens once every ten rounds, so there’s no need to catch any floats!
What could be better to work on, on an early autumn eve, than a simple, yet satisfying colorwork project? ^^

The Prince of the Night Socks are worked cuff-down, starting with a two-color folded cuff, followed by simple stranded colorwork pattern (the pattern has both written instructions and a chart for this) worked all over the leg and foot of the sock.
The heel is a German short row heel, with a slight modification to make the colorwork pattern even all over, despite the extra round required for the heel.
The toe is a classic wedged toe.
Some Important Information (one last time ^^)
The next month (October), will be a break-month for the Chasing Magic Series!
This means the next chapter and sock pattern will come out on November 1st 2026.

I have written seven whole sock patterns this year… where’s the time gone? o-o
This year has been such a blurr, and I’m so glad it just so happened to be the year I took on such a massive (for my standards) project, as this sock-and-story-series!
Having this “silly little project” to work on through it all, has given me such an anchor, that I honestly believe I would be in a much darker place these days if it wasn’t for these self-imposed deadlines, “forcing” me to reach into my creativity and passion over and over again.
In many ways – and I hope this isn’t over-sharing under a random post about socks ^^’ – this year might have been the hardest year of my life so far. So, looking back at how absolutely paralysed I’ve been during comparibly significantly easier times in the past , I can’t help but be in awe of what a huge difference it makes to have a passion and a clear goal, even just one, that all the “real life”-people in my life would see as just a rather pointless, if not straight silly little thing.(oh, the eternal story of having to justify yourself for creating for joy, not money)
Over the months, as life became more… whatever this mess is supposed to be ^^’ – I had to practically abandon all the social things I’d tried to set up for this series (and the Cozy Corner Magazine by the way… it’s not gone for ever if I have a say in it… I just don’t know when life will let me try again), which means I didn’t post, nor reply to anything in the Chasing Magic Ravelry group.
I also didn’t have the chance to express my appreciation for the person having given every single one of the patterns in this series a try so far… just… wow!
Honestly when I felt like just quitting sometimes I got to think “No wait, it’s not just a waste…”, and if this doesn’t show how you can positively impact a random stranger without even knowing or meaning to do so… ^^
If you happen to read this: thank you SO so much! I won’t say any usernames or anything out of respect for your privacy, but I hope you know who you are and just wanted to say I appreciate you sharing these project pages so much! It’s hard to explain why I can say this here where it’s technically in the wrong place, but brains are strange creatures aren’t they? ^^’
But why am I even talking about life being hard right now?
Because it means I had less and less time, energy and brain function to put into the patterns and story.
I really tried to not let the quality and genuine desire to create something nice get affected, but I feel like inevitably there was a bit of decay.
The socks in the sample pics have mistakes in them because I just couldn’t brain well, there’s been updates…
And month by month I’ve been cutting my self-imposed publishing deadline tighter, trying to get everything just right in the little time and even less energy left in my days.
(And if you’re autistic you might feel me when I say, that delaying to another date that isn’t the 1st, when every other month’s pattern etc. have been going up on the 1st, just isn’t an option ;-;)
All this to say – I hope once the fog lifts, I can look back on this and feel proud instead of embarrassed, at the patterns I made and the words I wrote.
But even more than that, I whole heartedly hope I didn’t end up wasting anyone’s time while reaching out for positive attention. (Because let’s be honest, publishing things always comes with the wish to be seen in some way ^^’)
But enough of the dramatic paragraphs!
There are already more than enough of those in this month’s chapter, aren’t there? ^^
